ScanSnap Home Tips

ScanSnap Home comes with additional and unique features. Users of ScanSnap products will find these tips and tricks helpful when using your ScanSnap scanner. We would like to provide you with helpful tips and opportunities to maximize the performance of your ScanSnap products using ScanSnap Home.

Selecting PDF or JPEG as the File Type

When choosing a PDF or JPEG image file format, we recommend adjusting your preferences in your profile to align with you preferred image file format

Follow the steps listed below:

  1. Open the ScanSnap Home application.
  2. Click the [Scan] button in the upper left of the main window of ScanSnap Home to display the scan window.
  3. Select the profile you are using from the profile list.
  4. Click the “half circle with the pencil” to display the “Edit profiles” window.
  5. Select the “File Format” dropdown menu and choose PDF or JPEG for the image file format.

Removing Blank Pages

Scanning tip, we recommend setting the blank page removal option to ensure blank pages do not appear on your finished scanned document.

Follow the steps listed below:

  1. Click the “Scan” button in the upper left of the main window of ScanSnap Home to display the scan window.
  2. Select the profile that you are using from the profile list.
  3. Click “half circle with the pencil” to display the “Edit profiles” window.
  4. Click the “Detailed settings” button in “Scan settings” to display the “Detailed settings” window.
  5. Select the “Scan” Tab.
  6. Select the “Blank page removal” checkbox within the “Scan” tab.

Image Rotation

 

To prevent your scanned document from rotating after scanning, we recommend setting the rotation option to not rotate your pages automatically.  Load documents face down, top of the paper feeding into the scanner first.

Follow the steps listed below:

1. Click the “Scan” button in the upper left of the main window of ScanSnap Home to display the scan window.

2. Select the profile that you are using from the profile list.

3. Click “half circle with the pencil” to display the “Edit profiles” window.

4. Select the “Rotation” dropdown menu and select “Do not rotate” to prevent automatic rotation from occurring.

 

ScanSnap Home Software Update

We aim to continuously improve our products to enhance the ScanSnap Home experience. We recommend keeping your program updated to enhance security, operability and functions capabilities of ScanSnap Home. Enable updates automatically in ScanSnap Online Update, check the latest updates, notifications, and available software programs on a scheduled basis.  Update the software and follow the instructions. For additional details, refer to the ScanSnap Online Update Help.

For completing a manual update, steps are as listed below:

  1. Display the Main Window of ScanSnap Home.
  2. Select “Help”  “Online update (check for updates)” on the menu to check whether a newer version of the program is available.
  3. Update the software if a newer version of the program is available.

Updating the Firmware

Updating the firmware provides an enhanced user experience. Update the ScanSnap firmware to add new features or improve features and operational performance. When a newer version of firmware is released, you will receive a notification from ScanSnap Home. Internet access is required to update the firmware.

To start and finish the firmware update follow steps below:

  1. Display the Main Window of ScanSnap Home.
  2. Select “Settings” in the menu → “Preferences” to display the preferences window.
  3. Select the ScanSnap that is currently connected to the computer from the list of ScanSnap units in “Scanner information” that is located in the “Scanner” tab.
    • The “Scanner” tab can be displayed from the ScanSnap Home menu which appears when you right-click the ScanSnap Home icon in the notification area, at the far right of the taskbar on the computer.
  4. Click the “Update” button.
  5. Follow the instructions on the “ScanSnap Firmware Update” window that appears.
