In Honor of Earth Day: Digitize for a Green and Clean Tomorrow

April has become a time, worldwide, to focus on committing to a clean environment through positive change in behavior and policy. Earth Day, commemorated on April 22, is widely credited with being the largest secular observance in the world, with nearly a billion people observing the day in small and large ways.

We can help with personal, home and business initiatives to minimize paper use and propagation—a positive step in the march towards natural resource sustainability. Why make paper copies of documents, IDs, or receipts when you can digitize them and share or save files securely?

Although paper is a great way to communicate information, making unnecessary copies is harmful to the environment.  Not to mention the wasted productivity and clutter from keeping paper records long-term.  Did you know that it takes 10 liters of water to produce a single letter-sized sheet of paper?

Smart choices for digitizing at home or in the office

(no need for an exit tray!), the fi-800R fits into tight spaces and makes this the sole scanning device you’ll need for your own home-based paperless office initiative.

Our commitment to the Earth

For more than a decade, we’ve been making a significant, sustainable investment in enterprise-wide environmental initiatives. This includes programs to reduce our own carbon footprint as well as finding ways to eliminate lead and other harmful wastes from our supply chain and products. All of our scanners are certified Energy Star compliant, with most of our own manufactured scanners are certified EPEAT Silver. In fact, FCPA, was just approved as a Smart Way Transportation Partner by the EPA.  This is just part of our commitment to the environment.

In fact, we’re working to achieve zero carbon emissions from our operations by 2050 and contribute to climate change adaptation as well as a de-carbonized society through technologies supporting digital transformation. We continue to support innovation and programs that are good for both the environment and our business, including Zero Waste projects at many of our U.S.-based facilities.

In 1970, 20 million Americans mobilized to call for greater protections for our planet at the first Earth Day. This year, more than a billion people around the world will come together to drive positive action for our planet. We hope you’ll join us in our environmental sustainability efforts by taking part in one of our Trade-in or Recycling Programs. That way, you don’t have to find a way to recycle your old scanner (or worse: send it to a landfill). When you trade in your old scanner under the program, you can receive money back when you purchase a new scanner model. The program also accepts competitive model trade-ins with bonus incentives for specific models.
