New models for a new year

The first ScanSnap scanner was introduced in the U.S. in 2002, after selling well for several years in Japan. There’s a lore in our company about this product that has always fascinated me. It seems that it was developed as a way for Japanese households to capture and treasure the New Year’s holiday cards (called nengajo) that are exchanged between family, friends and colleagues each year. I can relate to this personally because I’ve been known to scan holiday cards myself, not to mention artwork from my kids. It’s fun to revisit stories shared from previous holidays and I look forward to adding more to my collection each year.

That charming beginning to the ScanSnap product line has led to the sale of more than five million ScanSnaps, worldwide. We think one reason for ScanSnap’s popularity is that we truly listen to our customers and design with them in mind. We call it “giving the customers ScanSnap their way”; our engineers understand how you want to use the products and they develop the product line to meet those needs. But it doesn’t stop there. We also challenge our engineers to think about new ways that people would like to scan now and in the future. Our latest ScanSnap technology is a combination of both.

So, I’m excited to introduce our two latest models, the ScanSnap iX1600, loaded with innovative features. The ScanSnap iX1400, with its classic one-touch functionality for those who want to keep it simple.

Innovative and intuitive

About the size of a shoebox, the ScanSnap iX1600 proves technology doesn’t have to be complicated. From the touchscreen to automated image correction and ultra-sonic feed detection, this scanner makes it easy to be productive.

The iX1600 connects through Wi-Fi. With Wi-Fi you can scan without having to place it right next to your computer or other device. No Wi-Fi? No worries—this scanner has a secure USB connector, too. You can scan PC-free, use with any smart device, and share through the Cloud. And it comes with ScanSnap Home, so you can easily manage, edit, and utilize various types of scanned data.

The scanner also features a 4.3-inch touchscreen display, making it easy to select profiles directly on the scanner. It’s also what allows you to share the scanner seamlessly with up to four people. Terrific for small offices and also great for use at the house. All users can download and install ScanSnap Home on their PC or Mac. They can create profiles to drive scanning to their computer or device right on the touchscreen.

I’ll be sharing even more details about this innovative scanner in an upcoming blog post. Stay tuned!

The single-button scanning experience

The ScanSnap iX1400 refines simplicity and offers the signature, one-touch experience that ScanSnap users have come to love. Scan with a single touch of the button, with no compromise on performance or image quality. This classic desktop model makes it easy to capture all sizes of documents, from small documents such as receipts photo prints, to full-size legal documents—or even those long receipts you get at the grocery store. Don’t worry about dirt and flaws marring documents—the built-in Dust Detection and Streak Reduction feature removes streaks from images and reminds you to clean the device when needed. And, because it uses a dedicated USB connection—you’ll never have to worry about network availability.

What else can you do with the ScanSnap iX1400?

  • Make your documents fully searchable. Create a searchable PDF profile to initiate OCR during the scanning process, or by using ScanSnap Home after documents have been scanned.
  • Scan documents to Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. ScanSnap maintains the original document formatting while converting the image into an editable file.
  • Scan your receipts using ScanSnap Home. ScanSnap Home will recognize the vendor, total amount, and tax. Use the receipt guide for large scanning projects.
  • And much more!

Finally, both models are the fastest ScanSnap scanners ever, with a 33% speed boost from the previous generation. Fast, easy to use, intelligent, and automatic: ScanSnap lets you scan your way, even faster.
