A small but important change is coming that may affect how your scanners are recognized by PaperStream IP TWAIN drivers. Beginning April 1, 2026, certain fi Series and SP Series scanners will begin shipping with updated identification information. Older PaperStream IP versions, specifically 3.36.0 and earlier, will not recognize these newly manufactured units. If your environment still runs older drivers, new scanners may not be recognized by them.

How to Stay Ahead of the Change
To ensure every scanner in your environment continues to function as expected, we recommend:
- Audit your PaperStream IP TWAIN driver versions. Prioritize environments that deploy multiple fi Series scanners or regularly add new units.
- Upgrade to PaperStream IP TWAIN 3.40.1 or later. This ensures your systems recognize scanners with the new RICOH USB-ID.
- It is always the best practice to use the latest driver version to ensure the best performance and security. Doing this proactively avoids downtime, support calls, and user disruption.
