What is WorldViz?

WorldViz is a pioneer in the virtual reality and augmented reality space, providing solutions for a wide range of companies across healthcare, construction, marketing, real estate, secondary education, and other industries.

With WorldViz, customers can put a VR headset on, pick up the controllers, and instantly be transported into a virtual environment that simulates complex or potentially dangerous environments.

Medical students can hone their technical skills on virtual patients, practicing complicated procedures without harming real people. Marketers and product designers can interact with digital product mock-ups, making design changes without needing to build expensive prototypes. Researchers can conduct experiments in a simulated yet realistic environment and repeat them over and over again in a fraction of the time.

WorldViz works directly with organizations to build solutions that meet their exact needs. They also offer turn-key VR labs, Immersive Rooms, and development kits that give clients the power to build and create their own experiments, training scenarios, and environments with low-code or no-code tools.

Some of its trailblazing solutions that enable rapid VR simulation development include:

VizMove PRISM: A unique partnership between WorldViz and Ricoh

As a developer of immersive solutions, WorldViz understands that complex VR Lab setups aren't always practical or necessary. Budgetary or scalability constraints can make it difficult to requisition or set up enough VR equipment for everyone who needs hands-on training. VR controls can create additional barriers to interactions that can impede some users’ learning ability. Plus, students working in complex fields like healthcare still need physical, tangible experience alongside virtual simulations to apply learned skills.

That’s where VizMove PRISM comes in. PRISM is a unique, immersive simulation product that can instantly transform any room into an environment that triggers a similar emotional response and sense of presence as the real thing — and Ricoh’s projectors lie at the heart of the experience.

Rather than placing its users in a virtual environment with headsets, VizMove PRISM simulates real-world scenarios by projecting content onto the physical walls. The result is a highly immersive, realistic scenario that anyone can walk into and interact with.

VIzMove PRISM is highly configurable, relying on Ricoh’s powerful short-throw projectors to display colorful, high-resolution images and video on four walls, or even floors and ceilings, depending on the client’s needs. An instructor or trainee can manipulate the immersive room in a variety of ways, whether that’s using a tablet to change lighting and add environmental sounds and smells, or touching walls to activate triggers that display charts, videos, prompt questions, or otherwise alter the physical surroundings.

There are numerous use cases for VizMove PRISM, like training healthcare professionals, building interactive art exhibits, or even hosting escape rooms. Hospitals recreate hectic emergency rooms, complete with background noise and stressors that a nurse practitioner might encounter. Medical students no longer practice patient simulators in the middle of empty rooms; they engage in life-like scenarios using real-world tools in conditions designed to evoke the same sense of urgency as real-life patient encounters. Architects can provide building walk-throughs leveraging 360-degree images taken from on-site and experienced at full scale in a shared immersive experience. And museum patrons could immerse themselves in an art installation that envelops all of their senses.

Whatever the use case, VizMove PRISM engages audiences by drawing users closer into the experience in new and exciting ways.

Did You Know?:Ricoh’s short-throw laser projectors can create stunning images up to 150 inches in size from less than five feet away.
